VERSIONS A/W 25

This is the first collection solely dedicated to experimental and imaginative wines. These numbered experiments (VERSIONS) are one-off bottlings that differ from our usual wines due to the grape varieties, styles or winemaking techniques. The first of this kind was the VERSIONS #1 Cabernet Shiraz 2023- part of the MIRAGE Collection - where daring techniques like whole bunch inclusion, semi-carbonic fermentation, and 56 days maceration resulted in a fragrant and delicate expression of two grape varieties known to make robust and heavy wines traditionally.

These wines are an invitation to my creative journey from vineyard to winemaking techniques, maturation, label design, and the research and imagination behind all that. The nature of experiments is that some will fail, and usually only a few succeed. Each year, the learnings from these VERSIONS inspire the vineyard collection wines, released in September. Inherently, the VERSIONS are daring, experimental and in many ways, completely unique in the Australian wine scene. They are designed to push the boundaries of grape varieties and wine styles, to be non-conformist, challenge the belief of how things should be done and explore what could be done instead.

The selection, making and blending of these wines follow the same uncompromising approach as the whole LVDO range. Organic farming, hand-harvested, hand-sorted and hand-made wines with harmony, complexity and quality as the focal point.
