An aromatic and textural wine made into a blend from grapes growing in the same vineyard. The name colluvium refers to the wide variety of geology present in the vineyard. The co-planted Moscato Giallo, Viognier, and Pinot Bianco grapes were hand-harvested from the bottom of the slope (next to the Pinot Grigio). The grapes were filled into a French hogshead, partly destemmed party as whole bunches, filled with direct-pressed grape juice and locked up for 8 months. This Loire Valley technique called "flotation" works based on semi-carbonic maceration and infusion (instead of extraction). The practice leads to wines with a delicate fruit profile and gentle but definitive texture. The Verdicchio was harvested from the top of the slope, a section rich in quartzite and ironstone. The Verdicchio was direct-pressed, fermented and aged in a stainless tank. After racking and pressing off the Moscato component (after 8 months), it was blended with the Verdicchio and rested in two French barriques for 3 months. Bottled unfined, unfiltered with only 30 ppm SO2 added. 41 doz produced.

"A jubilant wine with aromas of white and yellow florals. Gardenia, Honeysuckle and Freesia with a heady mix of persimmon, mango skin and nectarine. What makes this wine a sensation is the spectrum of peachy aromatics from Viognier coupled with the frame of Verdicchios oily character and briney minerality. It's a contrasting wine that offers all manner of edible delights and drinks like a refreshingly dry white wine. Raw peanut, ginger root and white pepper on the finish. Drinking well now but will cellar for up to 4 years and continue to develop in complexity and detail. Serve with Balmain bugs and chilli sambal." 93 Points, Shanteh Wale, Wine Pilot
