2021 was an exceptional year in Whites Valley. We hand-picked grapes from the Perrau vineyard in Whites Valley and fermented with the inclusion of 50% whole bunches to bring savouriness, freshness and balance to the generously fruited and spiced flavour profile. After pressing off the ferment, the wine matured in ancient (over 15-year-old) French hogsheads for 14 months and was bottled with 30 ppm SO2. 680 bottles made.

Vibrant red and blueberry aromas with savoury leather and graphite and subtle pepper spice and violet notes. The medium-bodied palate is the definition of balance between chiselled tannins, elegant fruit and a tart plum skin acidity. Long and savoury. A modern classic from McLaren Vale.

"There’s a lovely feel to this wine. It flows in the most natural of ways, and yet it also remains focused; it feels free to roam within the compound of its tannin and acid. It tastes of plums, honey, blueberries and violets, with sweet five-spice characters adding lift. It’s a pretty shiraz.
